Mobbing Kills – Urgent Legal Regulations are Necessary
In the second episode of the URSH podcast, we spoke with Blaženka Rogan, president of the association Mobbing Stop, a long-time activist and expert on workplace harassment. The topic is one of the most dangerous phenomena in the work environment – mobbing, systematic psychological harassment of workers that undermines health and dignity.
What is Mobbing and why is it Dangerous
Mobbing is not an “inconvenience,” but systematic and targeted psychological harassment that, if prolonged, can have devastating consequences on physical and mental health. The message is clear: “Mobbing kills.” The victim is not “oversensitive,” but exposed to continuous pressure that threatens their safety, dignity, and existence.
Most Common Victims and the Circle of Consequences
According to the experience of the Mobbing Stop association, the most common victims are workers in subordinate positions – those who find it harder to defend themselves against pressures from superiors or colleagues. The consequences do not stop with the individual: from severe psychological trauma and health problems, to job loss and social exclusion, it also affects the family, the work environment, and society as a whole.
Legal Gap: What is Missing
One of the biggest problems is the lack of clear legal regulations. Current regulations do not provide fast and effective protection, and perpetrators often go unpunished. It is necessary to unequivocally prescribe that mobbing is a criminal offense and ensure quick protection procedures – to stop harassment and prevent long-term consequences.
First Steps for the Victim – how to React Immediately
If you suspect you are a victim of mobbing, react promptly and systematically:
- Keep a harassment diary (dates, times, places, witnesses, content).
- Collect evidence (emails, messages, records, instructions).
- Contact the workers’ dignity commissioner or union for advice and support.
It is crucial not to be alone – seek help and document everything that happens.
Where to Find Additional Information and Support
You can watch and listen to the entire episode on our YouTube channel URSH-media. If you or someone close to you is facing mobbing, do not remain silent – timely reaction and worker solidarity are the strongest protection against workplace harassment.
Conclusion
Mobbing is a threat to health and dignity, and quick victim protection and clear criminal provisions must be standard. Until the system functions properly, organized union support, documenting events, and open conversation remain the most important tools for stopping harassment.
