URSH on the Arrest of the Bankruptcy Trustee of Tžv Gredelj, Pero Hrkać
On the occasion of the arrest of the bankruptcy trustee of TŽV Gredelj d.o.o. in bankruptcy, Pero Hrkać, the Union of Workers’ Trade Unions of Croatia (URSH) organized a press conference titled:
“FINALLY THE TRUTH! UNIONS WARNED ABOUT THE DISORDER IN GREDELJ AND NO ONE REACTED!”
Union Warnings since 2012 Year
URSH reminds that as early as 2012, year, after the bankruptcy proceedings were opened against TŽV Gredelj and Pero Hrkać was appointed as the bankruptcy trustee, a request for his dismissal was submitted. The reason was a series of irregularities: failure to contract new jobs necessary for the continuation of operations and insufficient protection of the bankrupt’s assets.
Decision from the Hearing and Unfulfilled Promises
On December 12, 2012, a decision was made to continue operations and to prepare a bankruptcy plan within a maximum of a year and a half that would allow Gredelj to exit the proceedings. However, even after more than five years, the factory is still in bankruptcy, and a coherent plan has not been developed. Workers, many registered with the Croatian Employment Service, continue to live in difficult conditions without the possibility of re-employment.
Complaints and Inspections
URSH has submitted numerous requests to the State Inspectorate due to violations of labor law provisions and occupational safety. The ministries, the president of the Commercial Court, and the State Attorney’s Office have been informed about the irregularities. Despite everything, the bankruptcy trustee has not offered concrete solutions.
Failure in Managing the Bankruptcy
URSH emphasizes that Pero Hrkać is not up to the task of managing one of the most important bankruptcy proceedings in Croatia. The factory, into which more than a billion kuna has been invested, still lacks a clear recovery strategy, while production and employment stagnate.
Request to the Government of the Republic of Croatia
URSH has sent a request to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, and the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, Oleg Butković, for an urgent meeting. It is proposed to form a professional team to develop a new bankruptcy plan and enable Gredelj to exit bankruptcy – provided that Pero Hrkać is dismissed from his duties.
