New Collective Agreement Signed for URIHO

Zagreb, October 10, 2023. – After 20 years, a new collective agreement for URIHO – Zagreb (Institution for Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities) has been signed. The agreement was reached with the employer by the Union of Persons with Disabilities of Croatia, the Union of Graphic and Media Workers, the Union of Health, Social Protection, and Pension-Disability Insurance of Croatia, and the Independent Union of Workers in Communal and Related Activities of Croatia.

Salary Increase

The new collective agreement provides for a significant salary increase, which will be especially felt by workers with lower incomes. This aims to reduce income disparities and ensure fairer valuation of the work of all employees.

Negotiation Process

The agreement was reached after four months of intensive negotiations. The main challenge was to find a solution that would satisfy both workers and the employer, as well as the City of Zagreb, whose budget needs to provide a significant portion of the funds required for the implementation of the new collective agreement.

Conclusion

The signing of this collective agreement represents an important step in improving the material rights of URIHO workers and confirms the role of unions in collective bargaining. After a long period, URIHO workers are finally receiving significantly enhanced rights and greater security in their work environment.
